Authlogics Desktop Login Agent is now available for Windows 10

Authlogics, a specialist in multi-factor authentication, today announced that its Desktop Login Agent is now available for Windows 10. The software application adds 1.5 or 2 factor authentication (2FA), strengthening the login process and ensuring only the person authorised can gain access to their Windows desktop. So along with Windows 10 ADMX, this is going to be extremely useful.

Consequently, if you would like to further your knowledge of Windows 10, it is well worth pursuing some of the fantastic Microsoft certification exams out there. One exam that has proved to be popular in recent years is the md-100 exam. Put simply, this exam measures your ability to accomplish technical tasks such as deploying Windows, managing devices and data, configuring connectivity, and maintaining Windows. Above all, learning as much as possible about Windows 10 can be highly advantageous for professionals who work in roles requiring knowledge of modern desktop administration.

When using the Desktop Login Agent as a 1.5 factor solution, the user is presented with an on-screen challenge in the form of a number grid. The user then enters the numbers that correspond to the pattern (that they have previously chosen) in a separate box, and continues to log in using the Windows obligatory username and password procedure. In a 2FA environment the user is given the same challenge but the grid is presented on their mobile device via an app, transforming the device into a soft-token. Those who use Windows 10 might encounter the common Windows login PIN error (reference code: 0x80090016) but it is important to remember that there are ways to correct this error.

The adoption rate of Windows 10 is reportedly happening much faster than Microsoft’s previous operating system and the Head of Sales at Authlogics, Fred Astfeldt, explains the value of adding the Desktop Login Agent as part of the upgrade: “As organisations plan their rollout paths for Windows 10, we are giving them a low-cost option to strengthen the login process, by adding a simple yet very strong layer of authentication. Whether used in a 1.5 or 2FA scenario, it adds just a few seconds to the login process but the gains in improved security are huge.”

The Desktop Login Agent for Windows can be deployed automatically and centrally managed via Active Directory Group Policy Settings. It currently supports Windows Vista, 7, 8.x and 10, as well as Windows Server 2008, 2012, 2012 R2.

If you find that the software you use in Windows 10 is starting to become slow, you might need to clean up your memory. The best tool for this is the wise memory optimizer Mirror, which can be downloaded via kubadownload.com.
